Govt decides to forward budget of Rs 300b, hold election in mid-April

KATHMANDU, Nov 20: The government on Tuesday decided to forward full budget of Rs 300.064 billion for fiscal year 2012/13, to the president for endorsement and hold new elections during mid-April next year.
A cabinet meeting held this afternoon took a decision to this effect, informed Minister for Information and Communications Raj Kishor Yadav after the meeting. Now the budget ordinance will be submitted to the president for approval today itself, he added.

According to the prime minister´s aide Bishwodip Pandey, PM Baburam  Bhattarai, Finance Minister Barshaman Pun along with the chief secretary and the finance secretary are going to the president´s office at 4:30 pm to submit the ordinance.

Likewise, the meeting decided to hold new Constituent Assembly elections in mid-April. However, the date of the elections will be determined after holding consultation with political parties, Yadav, who is also government spokesperson, said.

The meeting also decided to extend the tenure of Special Committee for supervision, integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants by one month. The committee´s tenure expired on November 14.
